Narrative
A story about a scooter riding zelophile called Baby Shoes and his nymphomaniac girlfriend Alex.
Narrative
Patrick and Emma have an intimate relationship but they still haven't become intimate...literally. When Patrick asks Emma how many people she has slept with, he gets an answer he most definitely was not anticipating.
Documentary
An examination of the world's largest vinyl-record collection and the man who owns it.
Narrative
A lonely man becomes increasingly obsessed with an abandoned garbage bag.
Narrative
A middle-aged slacker living in a rundown, graffiti-ridden slum, Daisato’s job involves being shocked by bolts of electricity that transform him into a stocky, stick-wielding giant several stories high who is entrusted with defending Japan from a host of bizarre monsters. But while his predecessors were national heroes, he is a pariah among the citizens he protects, who bitterly complain about the noise and destruction of property he causes. And Daisato has his own problems –an agent insistent on branding him with sponsor advertisements, an Alzheimer-afflicted grandfather who transforms into a giant in dirty underwear, and a family who is embarrassed by his often cowardly exploits. A wickedly deadpan spin on the giant Japanese superhero, BIG MAN JAPAN is an outrageous portrait of a pathetic but truly unique hero. Narrative
The classic, I hate your guts, no wait, I like you, my brother is deaf, let’s ride a couch down the street, love story. Pushing 30, unemployed and decidedly unconventional, Archie lives in an eccentric world of his own. Living life like an endless lark, he and his girlfriend Sophie zip through the streets and get into games where the fate of their relationship may rest on who can pull off the best British accent. No reason is too small for an improvised party between these two, but how long can this carefree attitude last, especially when they take Billy, Archie’s deaf older brother who is under the care of their sister, along with them on a day-long journey? Quirky and fresh in ways that bring to mind Wes Anderson’s Bottle Rocket, the unpredictable Billy Was a Deaf Kid keeps you hooked by starting out as a frisky caper and then gradually revealing a more serious and thoughtful tale about relationships and love. – Cinequest Official Selection: Cinequest 2009
